    The Admiral´s Room

Welcome to the admiral´s room. Here we want to give you an impression of what a high officer´s home in Sweden would have looked like in the 17th century. The grim faces of the admirals from battle of Öland 1676 are looking down on us from their frames on the walls. The victors, the Dutch general admiral Cornelis Tromp and his Danish colleague Niels Juel survived the battle and won fame and fortune. Others were not as lucky. The general admiral of the Swedish fleet onboard Kronan, Lorentz Creutz, met his fate in the cold waters outside Öland. ….. Most of the artifacts in this room have originally belonged to admiral Creutz. The backrest of the chair as well as the pewter plate, wear the initials of Creutz and his wife Elsa Duwall. The golden spoon and the pocket watch with the golden chain, can also be linked to admiral Creutz.
